South American
Student Ambassador Program

President Bush just contacted your school and announced the "Student Ambassador Program."  This grant program would allow you to travel to a foreign country in Central or South America.  The grant would pay all expenses.

To become a participant in this program you must research and create a grant proposal stating why you should be a student ambassador.  The grants will only be awarded to students who plan on participating in a service project or for educational purposes.

Tasks
Your task is to research different central or south American countries and explore the educational or service possibilities.  What kind of activities interest you?  Which projects will let you show your talents?  What country interests you?  Would you like to teach reading skills to poverty populations? or volunteer in an orphanage?  Or would you like to learn a new skill to bring back with you to the United States, explore business opportunities, research in a real rainforest?  Be creative.  Just because there is not a formal project already in place doesn't mean you can't do the activity.
